DP#8: Parable of the Wicked Tenant
Even with his wealth, the landowner cheats the tenants, therefore abusing his power and privilege, and making him the protagonist. He uses his wealth to attain more power, and in turn, keeps the poor farmers pushed down below him. This concept is illustrated very clearly when he sends the farmers servants, only to have them killed. He may appear concerned about the violence happening in the community, but isn't doing anything to help better the situation. This inability to act shows how he actually so caught up in his rich lifestyle that he can't even realize the instrumental role he plays in perpetuating the violence around him.
